Character designBy Prompt TemplateVerified on GPT Image 2 / Nano Banana

A character is parts, fabric, and a repeated identity line

“Beautiful girl” is not a character sheet. Split the face, name the cloth, and repeat “same person, same outfit, same proportions” before any pose grid.

2026/09/01

Character sheets die in three places: a vague face, clothes with no material, and a pose list that mints a new person every panel. GPT Image 2 can hold identity across frames — EvoLink’s notes call that out — but only if you put the identity sentence before the choreography.

What actually breaks

We asked for “a cute mascot for Prompt Template, turnaround.” Round one was four different teenagers in four different hoodies. Round two described “beautiful, stylish.” Worse. Round three split the face (round jaw, short rust-red hair with a crooked fringe, moss-green half-lidded eyes, a nick in the left eyebrow) and named the cloth (washed linen overshirt, enamel swatch-pin on the left pocket, canvas sneakers). Same person. Then we added a 2×2 pose grid without repeating identity — panel 4 grew long hair. The identity line has to lead.

Vinyl-toy and action-breakdown plates need the same lead-in. Toy-ify after the anchors (face, hair, signature pin), not before. Grids need counts: 4 panels, numbered, equal size.

The rule we use

  1. Face in parts. Eyes, brow, jaw, hair, one scar or pin. “Cute” is not a part.
  2. Cloth is a material. Silk, waxed canvas, knit rib. Color-only costumes flatten.
  3. Identity before poses. Same character, same outfit, same proportions is sentence one of the grid, not a footnote.
  4. Count the cells. 2x2, numbers, a label per cell. Otherwise the sheet becomes one crowded drawing.

Locked

Character sheet, clean grey background, no extra people.
Character: Slot Wren, 20s, round jaw, short rust-red hair with a crooked fringe,
moss-green half-lidded eyes, nick in the left eyebrow.
Costume: washed linen overshirt, enamel color-swatch pin on the left pocket,
olive trousers, canvas sneakers. Linen texture visible.
Grid: 4 equal panels numbered 1-4 — 1 front, 2 3/4, 3 side, 4 holding a prompt card.
Line one of the grid instruction: same character, same outfit, same proportions in every panel.

GPT Image 2 kept the eyebrow nick across three panels; Nano Banana dropped it until we repeated nick in the left eyebrow inside the grid sentence. That nick is the identity canary — if it vanishes, the sheet has already swapped people.

When to open this guide from a control

character and costume are the sheet. identity is the lock you must not clear when you edit pose. If a new pose changes the pin or the fringe, the identity slot was empty.

Controls this guide covers

  • character

Break the face into parts. “Beautiful girl” is not a spec the model can share.

  • costume

Name fabric and hardware. Clothes without material stay as flat color fills.

  • identity

Repeat “same character, same outfit, same proportions” before any pose list.

  • pose

Grid the poses (count, numbers, per-cell labels) or steps collapse into one drawing.
