How it is built

A storyboard panel is a beat in a sequence: who is where, what just happened, what happens next. The skeleton is a stage, characters with clear screen direction, a camera (wide, medium, close), and a note of motion. You change the shot size, the eyeline, the time of day, and the action verb. Lock continuity: costume, number of people, which hand holds the object. Weather, extra extras, and color grade are controls. If the model flips screen direction, loses a character, or turns a medium shot into an unexplained wide, the board cannot cut. Write the panel like a shot list first, then dress the set. One verb per frame keeps the beat readable.

Watch-outs

  1. 01One verb per frame. Two actions make an uncuttable panel.
  2. 02Lock screen direction and which hand holds the object.
  3. 03Name the shot size. “Cinematic” is not wide, medium, or close.
  4. 04Count the people. Missing characters break continuity.
